Emoji shortcut on Mac

Press Control, Command, and the Space bar together. The Character Viewer opens where you're typing.

Shortcut

Click where you want the emoji, such as a message or a document.
Press Control+Command+Space or fn+E. You can also choose Edit > Emoji & Symbols in the menu bar.
Type a word or phrase in the search field, such as “laughing face”.
Click an emoji to add it to your text.

Click the Expand button in the upper-right corner of the viewer to see more categories, including symbols and characters from other languages.

In the expanded viewer, double-click a character to add it.

Select an emoji or symbol, then click Add to Favorites to keep it close.

Click and hold an emoji to see its variations, such as skin tones.

Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Keyboard in the sidebar. Next to “Press Globe key to”, choose Show Emoji & Symbols.

Keys set by macOS: The viewer opens with Control, Command, and Space bar, with fn and E, or with the Globe key.
